DP World’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) is investing AED 90 million (US$24.5 million) in the second phase of its logistics park. The expansion will add 360,000 square feet (33,445 square meters) of facilities next to Jebel Ali Port, a key hub in global trade. The development supports the UAE’s goal of growing its logistics industry to AED 200 billion (US$54.45 billion) per year by 2032.
The new facilities are expected to improve the efficiency and capacity of logistics operations in the region, making it more competitive globally. Abdulla Al Hashmi, DP World COO for Parks and Zones, said, “The expansion of Jafza Logistics Park reflects our commitment to helping businesses compete globally and simultaneously drive foreign investment into Dubai. Phase one was fully leased before completion, highlighting strong demand for quality logistics and warehousing.
Phase two takes this a step further – offering flexible, high-quality solutions to support growth in multiple sectors.
With the expansion, Jafza Logistics Park will grow to over 922,000 square feet (85,656 square meters). Demand for advanced warehousing in the Middle East and Africa’s logistics market, projected to hit $235.8 billion by 2031, is increasing.
Jafza logistics park expansion details
In Dubai, this demand comes from growing sectors like manufacturing, logistics, construction, and e-commerce. The expanded park will provide advanced storage and handling solutions, including contract logistics, freight forwarding, and management for industries from tech and automotive to fashion and packaged food. It will also offer services like packaging, labelling, quality control, and real-time inventory tracking.
This will enable re-exports, domestic fulfilment, and import-export consolidation. The park is designed with sustainability in mind, using precast concrete and off-site construction to reduce environmental impact. Skylights will maximize natural daylight and lower energy use.
Jafza currently hosts 10,890 companies from 150 countries, supporting over 160,000 jobs and contributing AED 620 billion in trade annually. Phase one of Jafza Logistics Park, finished in November 2023, has 562,507 square feet (52,258 square meters) of Grade-A dry and pharma storage units, temperature-controlled warehouses, and office spaces. This expansion will further boost Dubai’s position as a global logistics hub, offering state-of-the-art facilities and services to meet the growing needs of the logistics industry.
