At an event on Friday, the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), an apex body of businesswomen in India, emphasized the need to enhance support for women entrepreneurs to stimulate the nation’s economy. The government has introduced schemes and initiatives such as Drone Didi and Ladli Behen Yojana to promote women’s employment. However, the Economic Survey 2024-25 revealed significant gaps in women’s employment and entrepreneurship.

According to the survey, only 22 percent of India’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are women-owned. This is not just a statistic; it is a call to action. A call for us to step up, support, and strengthen women entrepreneurs because their success is the success of our economy,” said Joyshree Das Verma, President of FLO, at the organisation’s award ceremony for women MSMEs in the capital.

“Women-led MSMEs are catalysts for innovation, employment, and economic resilience.

Flo champions women entrepreneur support

The more we support them, the stronger our nation becomes,” Verma added.

Verma also highlighted the MSME Assist Cell at FLO, an initiative designed to guide women entrepreneurs in financial management, compliance, and market access. This initiative aims to equip them with the mentorship, resources, and opportunities needed to leverage government schemes effectively. When we empower women entrepreneurs, we empower families, communities, and the economy at large,” she noted.

This year, FLO received 104 applications for the MSME awards, reflecting the remarkable talent, perseverance, and ambition within the FLO network. “The competition was intense, and every single applicant here tonight is a winner in their own right. The awards may recognize a few, but every woman who took that step forward, challenged norms, and pursued her business dreams is a part of India’s entrepreneurial success story,” Verma said.
