Radhika Munshi, an IIT Roorkee and IIM Ahmedabad graduate, has launched her own saree brand, Anorah, leaving behind a lucrative corporate career. Munshi’s journey from a traditional career path to entrepreneurship has been inspiring and eye-opening for many. Munshi elaborated on her unexpected career change in a series of Instagram posts.

Despite being a top student and securing high-paying job offers, she felt unfulfilled and decided to take the entrepreneurial route. “I have a degree—two actually—from IIT and IIM, if you’re wondering,” Munshi revealed. “As one of the best-performing students in my class, I wanted the highest salary package upon graduation.

Starting my own Saree brand was nowhere on the horizon back then.

Munshi’s life took an unexpected turn, leading her to launch Anorah. She shared that the thrill and challenges of being an entrepreneur are unmatched by any paycheck. “After following the classic Indian path of studying at IIT and then IIM, I decided to take the plunge to follow my dreams.

Not even the highest paycheck can compare to the thrill of being an entrepreneur, where every day brings a fresh challenge.”

Facing societal judgments and her own self-doubts, Munshi initially struggled with her decision. “I took the leap of faith when I left my well-paying corporate job to create my own brand of sarees.

I was so scared initially when I designed the sarees. I would wonder if people would even like my sarees,” she revealed candidly. Munshi also spoke about the societal pressure to conform to traditional measures of success.

“Unfortunately, society has a minimal opinion on success.”

Since launching Anorah in 2023, Munshi has achieved significant success, with many customers returning for her beautifully designed sarees. “The love that I have received is extremely overwhelming. When we read the messages on how much our customers love our sarees, it fills our hearts with pride,” she said.

Munshi’s story is a testament to following one’s passion despite societal expectations and personal fears. Her transition from a corporate job to running a successful saree brand exemplifies entrepreneurship’s unpredictable yet rewarding nature.
