In April 2025, some retirees and disability recipients in the USA may qualify for both Retirement, Survivor, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments. To qualify for Social Security, you must have worked and paid enough taxes to the Social Security Administration. Those who have worked for just ten years and had a low wage may also be eligible for SSI benefits.

If you qualify for RSDI and SSI, you will receive both benefits during the first week of April. Social Security has scheduled Supplemental Security Income payments for April 1. Therefore, eligible recipients will receive SSI on April 1, 2025, and Retirement, Survivor, or Disability Insurance on April 3.

RSDI and SSI payment dates explained

This schedule predominantly applies to low-income Americans. Recipients must report any financial or personal changes affecting their eligibility and the amount they receive.

Overpayments could be costly and should be circumvented. Recipients whose earnings exceed the limit may lose eligibility for benefits. However, those only eligible for RSDI and not SSI will still receive their Social Security payments on April 3, 2025, if they start receiving RSDI benefits before May 1997.

For those who started receiving benefits after April 30, 1997, and were born on specific dates, Social Security payments will follow this schedule in April 2025:

April 9: Born from the 1st-10th
April 16: Born from the 11th-20th
April 23: Born from the 21st-31st

Understanding the RSDI and SSI payment schedules is crucial for budgeting and planning purposes. Eligible recipients should stay informed about their benefits and promptly report any changes to maintain their eligibility and avoid overpayments.
