The Shiba Inu team has issued a crucial warning to the community about potential scams involving fake versions of the TREAT token on the Solana and Binance Smart Chain (BSC) networks. Shiba Inu developer Kaal Dhairya clarified that the official TREAT token exists only on the Ethereum blockchain. He addressed misinformation stemming from a compromised account on X (formerly Twitter) called “Shiba Inu TREAT.”
Dhairya stated, “There is no TREAT token on Solana or BSC. The account seems to have been hacked, please be careful.”
A known Shiba Inu sleuth, Susbarium, also confirmed the compromise. Susbarium advised users to verify any token using the SHIB badge through the official SHIB.IO website or the Ethereum blockchain. This is not the first time the Shiba Inu team has dealt with misinformation.
Earlier this year, Dhairya had to address false claims that key ecosystem tokens, such as SHIB, LEASH, BONE, and TREAT, were deployed on Solana.
Fake token alert
Shytoshi Kusama, another prominent figure in the Shiba Inu community, previously dismissed reports of a stealth launch of the TREAT token in 2023.
The version circulating under a specific contract on ShibaSwap was confirmed to be fake. Following the official launch of TREAT and its listing on major exchanges, some community members raised concerns about potential favoritism towards the new token compared to others, such as BONE. Kusama responded by emphasizing the project’s comprehensive focus.
He assured that the development team remains committed to all parts of the Shiba Inu ecosystem. The Shiba Inu team continues to combat misinformation and maintain transparency about the deployment and legitimacy of its tokens. Community members are encouraged to verify tokens through official channels and stay informed to avoid falling victim to scams.
